But those policies stop short of protecting you from the unexpected failure of something major, like your furnace, or a problem with your plumbing. Repair or replacement can run up a big bill fast.
American Modern offers protection against repair costs (parts and labor) for product defects, breakdown or malfunction after the manufacturer's warranty has expired.
Our program covers manufactured homes only, and focuses on these "factory installed" components of the home:
Depending on where you live, this kind of coverage might be called a "service contract," "mechanical breakdown insurance," or an "extended warranty." Think of it as a supplement to regular insurance, not a replacement.

American Home Guard(sm) for The Options.
The Details Plumbing System: hot and cold water lines, waste pipes, soil pipes and vents, faucets, toilets including internal assembly parts, sinks, bath tubs, shower stalls, water heater including fuel lines, vent pipe/chimney, connections and joints. Electrical System: service panel, fuses and circuit breakers, wiring, ceiling and wall receptacles, light fixtures, boxes, switches and outlets. Central Heating System: furnace, fireplace and wood burning stove, blowers, duct work, fuel lines, vent pipe/chimney, connections and joints. Central Air Cooling System: air conditioning unit's compressor, condenser and A-frame, and evaporative coolers. Major Built-in Appliances: if purchased with the home, washer and dryer, dishwasher, garbage disposal, oven, microwave over, range, refrigerator and trash compactor. The Term You may see these options described as "plus 2, plus 4, or plus 6", meaning that the warranty on the covered items in your new home is for the initial one year from the manufacturer, plus two, four or six additional years from the American Modern program. The policy is attached to the home and can be transferred to a new owner if the home is sold. Your policy will detail the exclusions and annual liability limits. |
Vintage Home Guardsm for The Options.Standard Coverage - Structure, plumbing and electrical systems, heating and cooling systems, and major appliances as described. Deluxe Coverage - Standard Coverage plus dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer, garbage disposal, trash compactor, tubs, shower, toilets, and sinks. The Details Plumbing System: factory installed hot and cold water lines, waste pipes, soil pipes and vents, faucet, plus the water heater and its fuel/power lines, vent/pipe, and connections/joints. Electrical System: factory installed service panel, circuit breakers, wiring, indoor and outdoor receptacles/outlets, light fixtures, boxes, switches, built-in stereo/intercom, bath vent fans and ceiling fans. Central Heating System: furnace, duct work, fuel lines, vent/pipe and connections/joints. Central Air Cooling System: air conditioning unit and its compressor, condenser, and A-frame, and evaporative cooler if purchased with the home.
